• Discussions of some of songs, one was “Take me out to the Ball Game” and the ending song “Sentimental Journey.” Oldies but goodies
• Discussions of that time period of racial discrimination and racial slurs of African American.
• Discussions of the baseball team called “Negro All Stars” and the African American teams we had back then.
• Some CC fans talked about their own experiences in baseball or softball and dealing with their coaches. The pressures involve with players.
• R2k and Brydman mentioned that their parents talked about the “good old” days in baseball teams and players.
• We know a little bit more about Jeffries. A little about his sister which makes you wonder what type of a mother she is to always leaving her son with Jeffries.
• SB fans were discussing a numerous times of their disappointment that next week might be the actor who portrayed the Defunct Detective ("Josie chippy") last episode. We, CC fans, expressed our sadness for the one who's name we shall not say leaving the show. We wish the actor who portrayed the Defunct Detective the best in her future acting career.
• Basically, 1945 was the time period of racial discrimination. It’s a true story of African American baseball teams. These players had dreams, a future in hopes to make it to the major leagues like Jackie Robinson and other famous African American players. In this story, we learn about a young man, Clyde Taylor, who had the possibility of making it to the majors. Crumbs was the manager of this baseball club and had talk about golden dreams and possibilities for Clyde. However, there was an African American owner, who would not let that happen, as he claimed he owned Clyde. He had something over Clyde.
• The show takes us to a game where Clyde is up, we hear racial slurs made from the “white pitcher (opposing team) and from some “white” fans who are rooting for their team. It was a Black team against the White team. Before the next pitch, Clyde holds up a signal to the pitcher and asks Crumbs to give him his “special” bat. It was his grounder bat which made him a hero that day. The score was tied, 3 – 3 and Clyde used his grounder bat and hit a home run. His team won and was excited about their win, except for one team player; possible suspect?
• Clyde had a girlfriend, “Legs” who worked at Papa Bells. We all assume that “Legs” a/k/a Ester Davis was “white” but we discover she is an African American. The owner, Dandrees, and Club Manager, Crumbs, were not aware of this and tried to breakup their love relationship. Each for their own reasoning and purposes for breaking up a supposedly “interracial” relationship.
• Clyde was murdered after the game; he is found with “snuff” spit on his clothing and it appeared he was beating by a baseball bat, but the bat was never found.
• This case was brought up by Jeffries’s nephew. Jeffries was at his nephew’s ballgame and you wonder where this kid’s mom is; why isn’t she at her kid’s game? Jeffries’ nephew is a baseball fan of the past African American baseball players, especially of Clyde Taylor. The question of his death came up and the boy asks, “If this was Babe Ruth, I’m sure they find the killer.”(Not the exact words, but to that affect). So this lead to the investigation of Clyde Ruth.
• I had missed some of the conversations b/c of a glitch that happened to me, but if someone else has something to add that we discussed, please do add on.
• IMO, it was a good story, but I felt it didn’t have the pizzazz like its previous episodes.
