I was playing around with a program called "Streambox VCR"--it allows you to download Realaudio/Realvideo streams that normally aren't recordable (i.e. the websites try to prevent you from doing so). Well I dug around the CBS website and figured out how to download the "next episode" previews. They had not only the current week's episode, but all the past shows, too! They're kinda fun to watch and good for a quick fix when you need to hear Lilly's voice
So.. here they are... the previews from all the episodes to date, including next week's episode (#18). I've zipped them up into one archive.. you'll need Winzip (www.winzip.com) to uncompress the zip file.
(34.2 Megabytes--sorry it's so big, but it's ALOT of clips)
Note that the file names of the clips are related to their airdates... in the format yyyy/mm/dd. So the pilot, which was aired on September 28, 2003, is called "20030928_pt_cold.rm". That's the way the CBS webguys named them....
Also, here's "bonus clip" that I just got around to encoding--it's a cute little commercial that CBS ran right before the Superbowl.
I figured it was a matter of time till someone figured out a way around that. Why do they even bother? And I do find that irritating that we have not been able to have access to those.
Why do they do this to begin with. I think it sorta makes fans frustrated.
I will definitely take a look at this. I love the promos too! They always have an interesting expression from Lilly!

It bothers me too when they block downloading of their video content. I think they do it so you always have to come back to CBS.com to view it, and therefore, you have to look at their ads for other shows. I'll admit, they got me; I saw on their website that Teri Hatcher was going to be on "Two and A Half Men", and I ended up watching that instead of "Las Vegas"(NBC) on Monday night. . . .
One thing I noticed in looking at the past trailers is that they re-cut the trailer for "A Time to Hate"--the repeat that just aired this past Sunday.
The new trailer is baseball-centric, probably to entice sportsfan who might have seen the trailer during the NCAA basketball games.
I still haven't gotten a chance to go thru this but will.

Yes, it looks like Lilly did have that one shot you captured of her hair down. Maybe they are going to make a few changes with her. It's still a mystery to us as to what they will tell us about her. I figured out the basketball promo when I heard about the playoffs. I didn't consider that ep one of the better ones they've had so far.
Thanks for sharing this stuff. I have so much on my hard drive from other clips posted on the internet.
I was just curious if you were into making music videos using footage of the eps? So far I haven't seen anything around.

I've thought ALOT about making a music video for Cold Case. I've never made a music video before so I'm doing research by watching some of the CSI fans' videos.
I'll try some tests in the next week or two and post them....

Not sure yet about the songs. I want to make more of a "trailer" than a music video per se. So my vids wouldn't be just devoted to one song, from beginning to end. It would be more like a movie trailer, where you get dialogue-->music--> dialogue-->music. I'm figuring maybe 3 or 4 songs used per trailer. I'd like to have each song from a different decade, also... to kind of key in to the whole retro music thang that Cold Case does.

I'm totally self-taught in Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects.
After Effects is a killer program; basically you take photoshop and add a timeline to it. This lets you do all sorts of crazy effects, filters, warps, spins, transitions, etc. to video. Just about anything that you see "in the movies" by the pros can be created on your home computer, using After Effects.
Here's a sample title-card that I made this weekend. It's a copy of the little graphic that you see in the CBS preview vids. The type and the bar are After Effects elements... the CBS logo was created in Illustrator and imported into AE to be animated. The image of Kathryn is a still image--a video capture--that I animated to give it a slow rotation. The still also does a hue change from a bluish tint to the normal tint. The type also has a glow effect that glows bright and then subsides.
It's in quicktime format, so you can use your arrow keys to go through it frame by frame if you want
