Has anyone else noticed that the final songs this season just aren't as well known as the final songs in Season 1. Last season there were only a few episodes with unfamiliar songs. I'm stumped on a lot of them this time. Of course with episodes from the 1950s and 1940s and the Johnny Cash soundtrack in the House, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. But I didn't know the final songs from Badlands, Daniela, The Sleepover either. The music during the episodes has been more familiar, but the final songs have been a little out of my musical knowledge. I'm hoping for a good song at the end of Mind Hunters. To be honest, I had high hopes for my song guesses for the end of Greed. Hearing "All Through The Night" was not on the list. There should be a rule: Final songs must be famous songs.

To date, Season 2 final songs have been:
"The Badlands" - If I Ain't Got You," by Alicia Keys.
"Factory Girls" - "Don't Fence Me In," by Bing Crosby.
"Daniela" - "Goodbye Girl," by Bread.
"The House," - "Flesh and Blood," by Johnny Cash.
"Who's Your Daddy," - "Send Me An Angel," by Scorpions.
"The Sleepover" - "Circle," by Edie Brickell.
"It's Raining Men," - When I'm With You," by Sheriff.
"Red Glare," - "I Believe," by Frankie Laine.
I agree R2K that these songs are nowhere near as well known as the songs used for the final scenes in most of the Season 1 episodes. And truthfully, I prefer to hear a well-known song which I know the words to at the end of an ep, however, I don't think that a lesser known song detracts from the episode in the least. In fact, by Cold Case playing a song or an artist which is essentialy unknown, or at the least, not a top 40 song, it gets the viewers interested in new artists and new songs. In fact, I've been checking out other songs by Sheriff and Frankie Laine, artist I may not have gotten to know had it not been for Cold Case. Not to mention the fact that without a doubt, "famous songs" are much more expensive to secure rights for broadcast than lesser known songs.

I've noticed this as well. I've only known two songs so far this season: "If I Ain't Got You" by Alicia Keys (Badlands) "When I'm with You" by Sheriff (It's Raining Men) It hasn't detracted from the show for me either, but I do like it better when they use more well known songs. Ryebeach - It's funny that you mention the checking out other artists when they're used on CC. I find myself doing the very same thing. In fact, I was just researching Sheriff, Edie Brickell, and Scorpians the other day. I have an iTunes account, and I downloaded some their songs. I even mentioned to Fiance yesterday that this show has caused my musical interests to widen.

I think that a lot of the time, some of the famous songs from that particular year's lyrics might not even fit the situation. The songs they use almost always have content and sound that fit the occurence. Rather than recognizeability, they have tracks that make sense. It's not that easy to pick them out that way, but it certainly sets the mood.
