Double Sets: Kat/Vera Fic

Wow, a lot of updates! Great story!

You know, 29th of February I got 2 new second cousins!
They're twins and both girls. Their names are Amy and Ilse. It's great!
I already have a lot of second cousins and nieces and stuff (our family counts 140 persons total) but it's always a miracle to get new ones!
And guess what! Amy and Ilse's mother is also part of a twin! Pretty cool, huh.
We now have 3 twins in the family, 2 girlpairs and 1 boypair. ;D ;D

That night both Kat and Vera hardly got any sleep especially with having triplets. After feeding both Kaitlyn and Jessica the two infant were sound asleep again. Ten minutes later, Crystal began to cry out as Vera took her into the living room allowing everyone else to sleep. Still even after she was sound asleep, he knew they needed a bigger house.

In the meantime, both Scotty and Lilly tried to get some sleep. At the hour of 2am, Emily let out a loud cry.
“Hey what are you doing up” he whispered before taking his daughter downstairs. Halfway there, Scotty saw that Emily was fast asleep again. Being careful he managed to get back into bed, while placing her on his chest.

Not long after that, Aiden awoke as Lilly sat there feeding him. By morning the two parents were extremely tired not wanting to unpack the rest of the boxes. As the weeks had started to go on by, Vera finally was able to buy a house for his family. Somehow they landed up moving in three doors away from Scotty and Lilly.

Just as Vera was rushing to set up the cribs, he tripped and fell down the stairs. Kat sighed knowing that her future husband was a complete reek; if three crying babies weren’t enough. Glancing over, she saw Veronica holding Jessica.

“Sorry V” she said kissing the top of her head.
“Can one of them sleep in my room tonight”?
“We’ll see” Kat answered before going to help her fiancé.
Upstairs Vera was once again trying to find everything, as he scrambled to make it nice for his girls. Hearing footsteps, Veronica appeared before trying to help them out. In no time, the cribs were ready as the babies were all fast asleep.

Even as a month rolled on by, Lilly came downstairs in jeans and a top” You sure you can handle them”?
Scotty smiled” Handle what”
“Taking care of them, Kat and I just need little break”.
Without thinking he answered before seeing her leave the house. Even Vera was quite scared especially with three babies at once. Veronica had gone to a friend’s sleepover since she too needed a break away from home.
As the hours went on by, Vera was about to go crazy. He tried placing Jessica on his shoulder, while trying to hold Crystal but that didn’t work either. Then Kaitlyn needed to be changed, grumbling to himself changed the diaper but her clothes back on wrong.

Scotty somehow was able to spend as much time with them; until them both didn’t stop crying. By the time Lilly had gotten home later, she saw him fast asleep on the couch with both babies on his chest.
Being careful she took Aiden upstairs knowing he was about to cry out. The house still was unpacked but not as messy as Kat had found it.

“What the hell” she said
Vera groaned” Crystal doesn’t stop crying, she has it in for me”.
“A baby, and why does she have her clothes on wrong”?
“Beats me”.
Taking her daughter upstairs, Kat groaned upon seeing that her daughter’s had their clothes on backwards.

Just two months later, the men had returned to work. Vera looked liked he had been in a daze since the triplets were born but Scotty seemed fine. In fact both him and Lilly each had a system that worked to get them back to sleep. Now placing a picture of them on his desk he smiled noticing just how much Emily resembled her mother.

“Crystal has it out for me” Vera mumbled but missed his seat and fell.
Scotty shook his head missing both Emily and Aiden. On the flipside it was nice to be away but at the same time he liked being home with them. For Vera he was glad that Kat’s mother had stepped in to help out which took a load off of his shoulders.

“Heard you had three kids at once” said a cop known as Brian.
Vera grumbled” All girls”.
“At least Valens over there has a son”.
Scotty put down his coffee” Glad I also have a daughter” he said before two other men joined him. The morning was filled with him showing off their pictures; but Vera suddenly felt left out. In fact he tried to brag about his girls but they just weren’t listening.
Brian looked at the photo” Your girl looks just like Rush”.
“Rush is my fiancé and the mother of my kids” he added.
“You knocked Rush up, good job” Steven commented patting his shoulder” Didn’t think the ice queen was capable of that”.
Scotty shot him a look” You don’t know her, but Vera and Miller just had three girls at once”.
Brian turned around before the whole thing had started again before he and the other men had left. Now with the bullpen calm again everyone focused their attention onto the current case. In the middle of a meeting in Stillman’s office, Vera’s cell rang sending him panicking again.

Jefferies noticed how calm Scotty was” Guessing you aren’t that nervous”?
“They are a lot of work but Lil’s okay with me being here”.
Outside Vera was pacing around before trying to open the door but instead fell to the ground.
“This from the guy who thought he was pregnant” Chuckled Scotty before pushing the door open.

Vera looked freaked” How many diapers do they need, I’m telling you they all have it out for me”.
Stillman chuckled also” Calm down Nicky”.
“Can’t ever second they cry”.
Scotty patted his shoulder as Vera pushed him away “You walk around like you sleep all night”.

“Look Man, they cry but sleep doesn’t come naturally anymore. You’re a parent deal with it” surprised of what he had just said. Maybe having kids sent a maturity wave through him, or it might have been that Scotty had that long talk with his brother before their birth.

Whatever it was he wasn’t going to panic over anything. Becoming a father had meant everything to him; especially everything he had laid eyes on his son and daughter.

Around 6pm, Vera walked into their house seeing Kat asleep with Tabitha on her chest.
“Hey” he whispered kissing both of them before talking Tabitha upstairs. Inside of the nursery he stood there watching his girls sleep. It wasn’t anyone’s fault that they had triplets but it was better than having no children at all. Now noticing that Kaitlyn wasn’t in the crib, Vera peeked into Veronica’s room seeing her standing over a bassinet.

“Think she needs to sleep”
“I know Nick, just talking to her”
Vera smiled “Want to help me make some dinner for us”.

Halfway through dinner all three of the cried out from upstairs; making Vera race upstairs. While rushing he once again tried to calm them down. As always Crystal was the one who continued to cry out long after her sisters had falling back to sleep. Rushing around, Vera tried everything in the book to calm her down but nothing was working.

While he was placing Crystal on his back, she spit up all over him.
“KAT” he yelled awakening her.
She ran upstairs and laughed upon seeing him covered in baby vomit “Just hold her for a second”.
“It smells you do have it out for me” he whispered
After taking Crystal from him, Kaitlyn cried out but once again Vera got doused with it again. When that was all over, Kat was so tired she couldn’t even stand up.
“How come Tabitha didn’t wake up” Veronica asked.
“She’s smart” Kat answered wanting to go back to sleep.

By 9pm, Vera and Kat lay down on their bed after feeding three babies.
“How the hell did this happen” before seeing the look on his fiancés face” You knew about this”?
Kat smiled before noticing the look displayed on his face..

This is Part one of the 1st birthday party

By the time the babies were nine months old, there just happened to be a severe thunderstorm that night. As loud rumble of thunder was heard, Emily let out a loud cry. Being careful not to disturb Lilly Scotty went into the nursery as he held her in his arms.

“Hey it’s okay” he whispered before taking her back into the bedroom.
There Emily lay on his chest; as Scotty spoke softly to her. Even with all the thunder, he wondered why his son didn’t wake up. Maybe it was a good thing but no sooner after that Lilly awoke and came back holding Aiden in her arms.
“My boy scared too” he asked.

Lilly kissed his forehead” Think he wanted me” as she tried to comfort her son.

For awhile they enjoyed this time while listened to the rain and thunder. Meanwhile Kat was lying on Vera’s chest as he gently rubbed her back. They knew it was love; but somehow wondered about their future wedding. For now she was enjoying that none of their girls were crying.

As the storm grew worse, their house still remained silent. Kat leaned forward as the two kissed passionately before a loud bolt of thunder was heard.

“They” as Kat pressed her lips against his not wanting to jinx anything. Besides she wanted to spend some private time alone with Vera.

At the same time, Scotty felt that way as the two gently placed their children back into the crib. Lilly smiled at him before walking back slowly to the bedroom.

Four months later…[/i]

Vera was in a massive rush after forgetting to order the birthday cake. It had gotten so bad that he finally had found a bakery that would make it. Glancing down at a list, another ramble of curses was heard before getting the rest of the stuff.

After getting the cake, he fell as the cake flew out onto the sidewalk. Now Vera had literally no idea what to do next.

I've included two chapters, the Birthday Part II and Kat and Vera's Wedding.

Jefferies saw the mess knowing that Kat already had a cake; it was just a rouse for him to get out of the house. Grinning slightly, he didn’t stop to help Vera since he knew he would be late for the party. For Lilly she fussed trying to make things perfect until Aiden had decided to pull down the drapes in the living room.

“Crap” she thought before seeing the look on her son’s face. If that didn’t get any worse Kat had discovered a plant that had been knocked over. Her eyes then caught both Tabitha and Crystal playing in the dirt. After cleaning up both the mess and them, she called for Veronica before heading down to the forth house.

Once there Kat helped Lilly put back up the drapes; which was a big help.
“Still can’t believe they are one today” the blonde said.
“At least I’m not having another kid” groaned Kat” Not after popping out all three of them”.
Coming into the kitchen, Scotty was holding Aiden in his arms. Lilly still couldn’t get over just how much they resembled each other. Now fixing her son’s outfit, she held up a camera and took a picture. Scotty had turned out to be a great father but his nervousness had died down once they were born. After Lilly was upstairs to dress Emily, everyone crowded into the living room.

Halfway during the party, Vera busted in out of the breath. He was covered in mud as everyone laughed at him” its mud boy” Scotty chuckled” I heard Kat wants another one”.
Upon hearing that Kat shot him a look before seeing Vera passed out on the floor.
“Great, don’t tell me I’m about to marry one big nervous Nellie”.



THE WEDDING

Just four months later, Vera was in deep panic after losing their wedding bands. By the time that Kat was walking down the aisle he came busting through knocking her to the floor. Annoying as she felt, today still meant a lot to her; especially marrying someone like him.

Getting up, Kat continued to walk once at the altar Vera took his hand into hers. Halfway during the ceremony he realized he hadn’t found the rings; before luckily Stillman had. Taking her ring, Vera slid it down her finger.

“I love you so much” he whispered before Kat did the same thing. Now getting the signal to kiss her, Vera did just that before this time he picked her up and carried her up the aisle not realizing his pants were split in the back.

On route to the catering hall, Kat sat there resting her head on his shoulder” What the hell did we just do”?

The two looked at each other searching for clues before sharing a deep kiss. Once at the place, he had forgotten about his split pants since him and Kat were posing for pictures.
After that Lilly came up to her” Hard to believe you two are married”
“Well I got the scrap on my knee to prove it”

Lilly then ran up and caught Aiden as Scotty got up” Seems like he’s a ladies’ man like his father”.

“Is that so” he said” Good job buddy” he said watching the amused looked on his son’s face.


An hour later, Kat and Vera were having their first dance together as a couple. Scotty had to turn away since his pants were still split.

“Next year that will be us” he whispered as Lilly turned toward him” Except the part about the split pants”.

They both smiled before everyone else was on the dance floor, now leading her onto it. Lilly enjoyed dancing with him a lot; since he had brought so much love into her life. That didn’t stop him from teach Emily how to dance.

After snapping a picture to capture that memory forever; the food was being served.

Vera then took a bit before the food got stuck in his throat. While Jefferies was performing the hem lick manure on him the food shot out and hit Kat’s face.

Glancing over their girls all were playing with the rice on the floor. If that wasn’t bad enough, it was time for them to cut the cake. Soon as the first slice was cut, Vera pushed the plate of cake into her face.

Kat did the same thing, before kissing him while Scotty fed Lilly lovingly some cake.

“Why are you being so romantic” she said

“Cause I love you, beautiful” before having a bit of cake throw on his face.

When the party had ended, Vera successfully carried Kat into the limo. Now on their way to the airport, they had two weeks to be together without their girls. Meanwhile, Lilly was downright tired to the point she quickly fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.

Meanwhile on the plane, Vera had gotten airsick as he spent sometime in the bathroom.

Kat groaned but was glad to be out of the dress; before closing her eyes. Somehow when she awoke he was practically drooling all over her.

“Get up” she said

Vera moaned” Is the plane landing”?

“No, but your squashing our baby”.

His eyes shot open before racing back to the bathroom to vomit, Kat grinned knowing that she wasn’t really pregnant but this was a good rouse to get him to wake up. Upon returning, Vera was once again very nervous.

The next day, the two went water skiing. Just as Kat was about to go out onto the water he took her hand “You can’t go out there”
“I was kidding about the baby Nick” before going out stepping out onto the dock. When she jumped he watched in amazement how much of a good skier she was. Kat seemed to have fun but noticed how Vera just saw there.

Quite frankly she didn’t care it was still her honeymoon also. He surprised her by taking her to a nice restaurant for drinks.

“It’s nice not having them around” Kat said
Vera nodded in agreement before the two kissed.

By the time they had gotten back, Scotty and Lilly were yelling.
“What’s up with them?”?

Jefferies sighed” Lil wants to get married sooner than expected, Scotty wants another child”.

Now alone with a pair of two year olds, Scotty sat down on the couch flipping on a game. Although he wasn’t aware about Lilly being pregnant, his main focus was on the twins. Emily was sitting down next to him as she too watched the game. Aiden was busying running around the house like a madman, before playing with a toy.

Vera finally grew smart and put up the baby gates so they couldn’t run through the kitchen. Last time Tabitha had gotten in and broken six glasses. Now he didn’t have to worry except for when he had forgotten to close the gate behind him.

“Daddy” one of the called out as Vera peered into the kitchen seeing Crystal dropping eggs onto the floor. She then picked up the yolk into her hands” Mine” before he went to get a paper towel and fell. Finally he caught Crystal and cleaned her off while she giggled. Vera groaned before hearing the sound of the TV getting louder.

Peering into the living room both Kaitlyn and Tabitha were playing with the remote. When he reached to get it both girls ran upstairs; before one of the dropped it into the toilet. In the meantime, Scotty was able to feed them without one of the blowing a fit.

As the night progressed, he was able to get them into bed. For Vera he still was trying to get them to fall asleep. Somehow Tabitha was becoming cranky as she began to run around the house. When he did, she had fallen asleep on Veronica’s bed.

Now extremely tired, Vera climbed into bed trying to fall fast asleep. By the next day he and Scotty took their kids to the Jersey shore.
As soon as he placed an umbrella down, both Aiden and Emily began to run into the water. Catching them both, Scotty placed his son on top of his head” Hold on okay” he said before holding Emily. Together they went into the water and had fun; while Vera chased three toddlers across the shore.

After catching all of them, he lay back on a chair while they played in the sand.
“That’s really being a father”
Looking up Vera saw Scotty standing there with his kids” You saying you make a better father then me”.
“At least I don’t let my kids run all over the place”.
He shot him a look before lounging back on the chair. Scotty shook his head before seeing what Emily had picked up.
“You got a shell” he said as she giggled before running into the water and back. The rest of the day was enjoyable until Vera decided to prove that he was a better father. Somehow that theory was cracked since they both had different styles of parenting. Vera wasn’t about to back down just because of this, instead he decided to spoil the kids.

Scotty was finished mowing the lawn while the kids were napping, as he saw his car pull up. Wiping the sweat off of his face he decided not to say anything. After showering and feeding the kids lunch, Vera was now trying to figure out how to use the lawnmower. While letting go out the handles he started to run with it.

Once he was finished the lawn had odd lines to it, but it was clear that Vera just didn’t care. Now watching the kids playing out back, he decided to play with them. That didn’t go well since Tabitha took the ball and began to run all over the yard. Vera nearly tripped and fell into the pool; before getting out and closing the gate behind.

Now getting the water all over the place, he changed into a fresh pair before falling asleep on the living room floor. By nightfall, Scotty was glad to hear Lilly’s voice again.

“Missed you” he said.
Lilly smiled “How’s the kids” while keeping her hand rested on her abdomen.
“Fine, took them to the beach yesterday”.
She let out a yawn” I’ll see you in two days”
“Love you” Scotty said before hanging up. Kat wasn’t thrilled about how Vera was spoiling their girls, but was glad that Veronica had gone to her mother’s house for the remainder of spring break. Now relaxing she put on some music and dozed off.

By the time they had gotten back, Lilly found the place clean as a dozen roses sat in a vase on the dining room table. After putting her stuff down she found Scotty fast asleep in bed, before putting on her work clothes. Before leaving she checked on the kids, glad to see their faces again.

At work, Lilly got a head start knowing she had a lot to catch up on. By morning, Scotty came into the bullpen smiling at his wife” Hey missed you”.
She smiled as he noticed there was no coffee cup at her desk” Want me to get you some coffee”
“No”
Vera grinned “What did you two do eat”?
Lilly sighed” Well this baby in me makes it harder for me not to”
Scotty stopped breathing” Your pregnant” as she nodded in agreement. He then suddenly felt sick after thinking about her carrying twins again. After throwing up in the bathroom, Scotty splashed some cool water onto his face before heading out.

Back in the bullpen, Vera grinned at Kat” No way is I have another child”.
He began to get romantic” C’mon can I least have one son”.
“Got four daughters aren’t that enough”.
Scotty sat down feeling relieved that Lilly was carrying only one baby this time. What really was on his mind was the fact that in two months was Aiden and Emily’s 3rd birthday. This time they were going to hold two parties; one now for her baby shower and the other for them; feeling sick again Scotty raced into the bathroom.

A sudden fear raced through Kat’s mind knowing that she too was experiencing the symptoms of pregnancy. Breathing out she hoped it wasn’t true.

Kat was jumping up and down happy that she wasn’t pregnant. Somehow being around Lilly made her wishes that she was; but after spending the whole day with her daughters that thought was quickly diminished. Though she now had a big family, four girls were more than plenty for her.

Now sitting at a baby shower, Lilly grew excited to open the gifts.

“Scotty still getting sick” Kat asked

“No, but every night he kisses my stomach” she replied” He’s hoping for another boy”.
Most of the gifts were of pink sleepers and toys except one.

Inside was something for Emily that she had wanted so much. It was a princess dress from Scotty who from time to time had a notion of spoiling her. After changing Emily into it, she pranced around while Lilly sat there talking about the baby.

Since the party was halfway over, everyone else left except for Kat.


Lilly then noticed the look on her face” You know when I said I wasn’t pregnant, well doctor just said I was. Don’t know about raising a fifth child especially the way Nick is sometimes”.
“How far along are you?”

Kat placed a hand on her stomach” Two to three months”

After telling Lilly, she decided to tell him during the party but hoped that this time Nick would finally calm down a little. Even that night Kat became so moody that she threw him out of the bedroom so she could sleep. He sulked before heading to work, trying to get away from her at all costs.

When the big party had arrived, Lilly placed a hand on her stomach feeling the hyperactive baby inside of her.
“You okay beautiful” Scotty asked.

Lilly nodded” Baby’s just doesn’t quit moving” as his hand slid onto there. For a moment he felt extremely happy to have another child” We going to find out this time”?

“I already know” she said before kissing him.
Now heading into the living room as Lilly took a picture of Scotty with their kids. She knew that maybe having a double set wasn’t nearly bad. Glancing over at Vera, well that was another story. He too sat there as Kat also snapped a picture.

While the kids were eating their cake, Vera grinned at Lilly” I hear it ‘s twins”.


“Nope just one baby”.

“Better make that two” Kat added before water came out of Vera’s nose.
“Daddy’s funny” Crystal said giggling.
Vera then breathed out” You’re pregnant”
“May I remind you that are the last time you knock me up”

Scotty grinned at him before seeing Kat pushed some cake into Vera’s face.
“You do look beautiful”
“Oh brother “Kat answered before the two of the bickered some more.
By the time they were all back to the work, Vera didn’t stop serving food to Kat. In fact the more he did it the more Lilly grew hungrier. In fact she grabbed two slices of pizza and devoured them instantly.
“You having a boy “Vera asked
Scotty took a sip from his coffee” Nope got another girl on the way” as Lilly shot him a look before realizing she had written it down on the back of the picture from her sonogram. He was happy about it but Vera was even more nervous.

In fact this time, he was beginning to eat more and more.

Kat groaned after seeing just how much her husband was eating. In fact she was repulsed by the fact he was doing this but maybe it was the fact that they both were expecting a fifth child. Vera was quite scared about this so much so he avoided sleeping with her. Instead woke up to three toddlers that were jumping on him.

The next day Vera was eating in between interrogations. In fact he grew tiffed with Lilly had decided to steal a couple of his doughnuts. Now even hungrier, his hands quickly grabbed the last bag of chips that were lying on Jefferies desk. Kat sighed knowing that this wasn’t going to solve anything.

“ Vera’s still chowing down” Lilly asked

“ He hasn’t stopped since I had told him about the baby”

The blonde smiled” At least Scotty’s not nervous this time”

Kat opened up a bottle of water, before rubbing her abdomen. Although she originally had say she a couple of weeks along; that wasn’t true. In fact Kat was about three months but found that she couldn’t be truthful with Vera a lot of the times.

Especially now, she hated the fact that he was refusing to sleep with her. Now outside Kat walked around wanting to clear her mind. In the middle of the park she felt the baby moving for the first time. Just feeling that made her sad that her marriage was falling apart quickly.

When she had gotten back, Lilly was eating an ice cream sundae with everything on it. Getting a grip fast Kat stood there scorned” Getting plumper I see”
He turned around” Don’t see you getting any thinner”.

“ Well I would if you haven’t knocked me up three months ago”.

Vera stood up” You lied”.

“ Yeah what’s it to you. Not like you even care”.

At that point Lilly was in the break room as Scotty came closer. The two knew they had some problems but it didn’t stop them from loving each other. Meanwhile Jefferies broke up the fight between them. Now sitting at her desk, Kat began to eat while pouring her attention onto the case. Vera then gave her a look.
“You got something to say” she asked

“ No”

“Then turn around” came her reply.
Vera looked over at Scotty for backup but he didn’t say anything. He wasn’t about to have two pregnant women mad at him. Throughout the entire day, the two bickered until Kat threatened to give up the baby for adoption.

“ You wouldn’t” he said with his eyes on her.

Kat got up” Why just another burden for you to deal with”.

Vera stood there” Then go do it that thing was a mistake, just like those little brats”.

It didn’t take long for Kat to leave and pick up her girls before dropping them off at her mothers. How could she be so stupid in falling in love with Nick Vera? While did that night ever have to happen, if it didn’t their three girls wouldn’t been born.

Maybe it was better that they went to better homes; especially the way things were going. Later on Vera entered the house before seeing Veronica standing there” Mom’s upset Nick”.
“ Go back to your room, let me talk to her”.

Inside of the room Vera stood there hearing Kat crying softly. He knew this didn’t have to be like this at all. Glancing over at her pregnant abdomen he leaned closer and kissed her “ You're still my wife, I love you”.
Kat opened up her eyes as Vera sat down” None of this was ever a mistake, even this little one”.
“ Why avoid me”?
He pulled the blankets up closer” Sleep everything’s going to be okay”.
“ That’s nice since I’m craving a large ice cream sundae”.
Vera let out a laugh before the two talked more.

Now that Kat and Vera were back to loving each other again, although he acted nervous it was expected. During the day he was out interviewing several suspects which made the whole office feel more relaxed. Now sitting down she felt the baby stirring inside before seeing Lilly lowering her pregnant body into a chair.

At that point Vera came in “Sorry I ate all the fries”

Kat groaned” That’s nice I kind of was craving some” she pouted. He let out a sigh” Give me a break I just did four interviews”.

“Really and I’m carrying your forth child”

Vera glanced over at her stomach his hand gently touching it” What in the world was that”?

“A baby what do you want an Alien growing inside me” she snapped before putting peanut butter on her hamburger.

For the rest of the day the two were doing their usual bantering back and forth, by nightfall Kat came home to find the house totally clean. The kids were all in bed but as she opened the door; candles were strewn about the bedroom.

Several minutes had passed before Vera softly stroked her abdomen while Kat lay there. He then began to pour some lotion onto her stomach.

“You didn’t have to do that Nick” she said

He leaned forward kissing her lips” It’s no bother” before a large crash was heard coming from the living room. As the two crept out Kat realized that Vera had shoved everything into a closet which had busted open.

Giving him a look he turned to her” I tried just wanted to make this night special”.

Upon walking into the kitchen, it was spotless.

“Take out” she asked as he shrugged” Makes less mess especially with them”. Then tomorrow was yet a different story since Vera had decided to take his family on a vacation. When everyone had climbed into the van, he began to drive before glancing over at Kat.

“What”
“I’m hungry” she said

He peered over at the traffic” No way am I turning off the expressway, not in this traffic” at the same time Crystal shivered uncontrollably in the back seat.

By the time their Van had made it out of Pennsylvania the snow started to come down pretty hard. In the middle of dead traffic, Crystal called her name out.

Reach back, Kat felt her forehead” Nick she’s burning up”.

“I can’t pull over”

She then threw up as Vera groaned before finding a way off. Luckily there was a rest stop, after cleaning up Crystal he came back.

“I need to eat” Kat said.

Vera shot her a look” Didn’t you bring anything with you”?

“Yeah but I need something else “she pouted as her husband began to drive. It was the same scenario for both Lilly and Scotty except about the part of the sick child. Of course theirs were both fast asleep in the backseat.

“Abigail’s hungry” Lilly said

“No way are we naming her that” he warned” Besides we agreed about not naming it until it was born”

The blonde sighed” You said that last time, please let me name her this time”.

Scotty began to drive before hitting more traffic” Enough Lil, let’s just enjoy our vacation”.

Halfway there he stopped for some food; Lilly of course had ordered six hamburgers. Now eating in the car she noticed his grin” What now”?

“Never saw you eat that much”

“I’m pregnant what else is new” she sulked.

Meanwhile Kat had fallen asleep before awakening to an odd country song. Upon hearing the insane lyrics she switched off the station. Vera groaned before putting on some weird jungle music. Now singing badly to it, her eyes opened.

“Will you just stop it?”

“Hey I’m amusing myself, since you decided to take a nap”.

Kat breathed out before falling back into a very deep sleep. Now switching on some sports radio, he began to listen while ignoring that this was the exit to get off. Currently lost, Vera tried to find a way back onto the expressway but couldn’t. The storm was getting worse plus the fact his phone was near dead.

Vera begins to lose weight in this chapter.

As the van turned around, Kat was growing tiffed with her husband. She hated the fact that he didn’t listen especially driving in this weather.

Now glancing over at Crystal who was sick, it was more of a reason to find their way back to the cabin. When Vera finally had gotten onto a side road before seeing a sign to get back onto the expressway; but didn’t miss it this time.
Upon arriving, Kat was literally tired.

“I’ll get them to bed” Vera said kissing her.

One thing about him was the fact that his parenting skills had somewhat improved. When it came to Veronica, he never backed down on helping her with her homework or taking her to dance classes. Now lying in bed together, Vera leaned over and planting a kiss on her cheek before falling asleep.


The next day was filled with fun as both families took their kids sledding. It had seemed to be the perfect vacation until Vera had tripped and rolled down a hill.

Kat couldn’t help but laugh but remembered a similar incident happening had their own wedding. When he had gotten up he decided to build a snowman with his girls.

At the same time, Scotty was busy playing in the snow. Both Emily and Aiden were each busy throwing snow on him as Lilly watched from inside. T

hough she had been out earlier, it was getting dark and much colder out. By the time that everyone was back inside, the two of them sat there wrapped up in a blanket.

Scotty looked over at his wife” Abby kicking still”?

“Thought you didn’t want to name her that”.

He shrugged” Besides I’m kind of liking the name Abigail, it’s different”.

At that point, Lilly closed her eyes just enjoying the moment with her family. She knew this was something she had wanted for a very long time, especially with someone she loved more than anything else in the world.

That was the same for both Kat and Vera except the part about the baby’s name.

“How about Nick Vera Jr.”?

Kat sighed” Oh brother” before seeing Crystal snuggling into his chest. She had woken up fine today, which was very good news “You said she had it out for you”.

Vera smiled before watching the toddler sleeping in his arms. Maybe having another little girl wouldn’t be so bad.

A few minutes later Kaitlyn tugged at him “Daddy read to me” she said holding up a book. Pretty soon he was reading to both her and Tabitha while Crystal slept soundly.

By the next day, Vera was in a grumpy mood. He made a mental note to start to lose weight before the birth of their fifth child. Although it wasn’t going to be easy, this was for the best. One night Kat laughed when she caught him doing sit ups.

“What’s it to you, I’m fat”.

Kat sighed” Don’t start this again”.

“What again”?
She rolled her eyes” Thinking you are pregnant ”.

Vera stood up” Fifty bucks I’ll be thinner when this baby is born”.

Upon returning home he kept his promise and lay off the fattening foods. Kat was supportive but wondered what had brought this on.
Even at the office he had been acting very strange except now this was driving Lilly insane.

One afternoon she felt his eyes on her” You want it “?

“No on a diet” he said before giving her a puppy dog face

. Lilly groaned before throwing the box of pizza down on his desk. She then sat back down still very hungry before burying herself with the case again. Taking out several rice cakes, Vera began to chew loudly before Kat spoke up.

“Quit chewing like a pig “

He glanced over at his face” Oh I’m a pig, because I’m a fat cop”.

Kat groaned even more” Just shut up Nick, and stop stealing food from Lil”.

Vera sat down once again before Scotty came back with a salad. Lilly automatically began to eat until there was nothing left of her salad. She then went on to eat a hot dog with cheese all over it.

“Oh but your both entitled to eat like that”?

Scotty was about to lose it” Shut it” before Jefferies held him back” Enough to eat your rice cake Vera".

By 4pm, Vera began to run on a treadmill while Scotty lifted weights. He was so jealous then when pressing another button he began to run faster. After the machine accelerated, Vera breathed out heavier wanting to be a lot thinner.

After stopping the machine, he walked over and tried to do some sit-ups but once again ended up lying on the floor out of breath. It was pure jealousy that Scotty was more in shape and able to lift weights without a struggle.

On the second attempt, Vera gave up and tried other things. In the end, both he and Scotty were in a boxing ring. That part was pretty fun until both men fell to the floor before getting up.

“You going home” Scotty asked

“No got to work out some more” Vera said not wanting to face Kat.

By the next morning, he came into work carrying Tabitha in his arms.

“Daddy’s stinky” she replied causing the whole bullpen to stare at him.

Just two months later Vera had resorted back to his nervous self again. Especially the day that Kat was finding out what they were having. Now pacing around he began worry about his wife, while Scotty was getting yelled at constantly since he was starting to annoy Lilly who was on maternity leave.

Meanwhile Kat went home after feeling a bout of drowsiness. It didn’t help that Vera was still royal nervous pain in the neck. Now curling up in bed she immediately fell into a peaceful deep sleep, which was rare these days.

By the time that Vera had gotten home he didn’t have the nerve to wake her. After getting them into bed, he and Veronica sat there watching the game together. She now considered him as her father which brought them even closer now. In all terms Vera felt lucky to have her in his life.

In the other house Lilly lay there awake listening to Scotty telling them a story. Before long it was finished as Aiden looked over at his mother” Mommy’s sleeping again”?

“She’s tired buddy” Scotty replied” It’s time for bed you two”.

While tucking them into bed, he knew that each had many questions about their unborn baby sister. Glancing over at them it would have to wait until tomorrow since they were now fast asleep. The next morning Scotty opened his eyes as both Emily and Aiden stood there.

Now putting them onto the bed, the two were full of questions. For Vera he and Kat were awoken by the sound of three little girls running into their room.

After getting them comfortable, both Crystal and Kaitlyn lay down on their father’s chest while Tabitha curled up by her mother. Two hours later all three of them were jumping on the bed.

“You win” Vera said” Guess four is enough” realizing that this was it for them. The morning got better when the kids had finally left the room. He leaned over as Kat grabbed the picture” Find out when it’s born”.

When Lilly hit her nine month mark, it made Scotty even more anxious. One night it had gotten so bad that she kicked him out of the bedroom. Even at work the next morning he was throwing up from being so nervous. Vera too was feeling it knowing that it was way too early for their baby to be born.

Just three days after Lilly’s due date, she began to feel several contractions. When Scotty got the call he was on his way to do a stakeout when he turned back driving fast. After arriving he raced down the hallway immediately taking a hold of Lilly’s hand.

“You okay” he asked

Lilly nodded before breathing out from another contraction “ Breathe” he instructed as an hour turned into fourteen long hours as she cried in more pain while in heavy labor. Scotty couldn’t understand why she didn’t take any painkillers this time around.

After pushing hard Scotty looked down at he watched Abigail draw in her first breath. To him it was amazing until he collapsed onto a chair

That wasn’t nearly as bad as when Kat had gone into labor three months later.
