Double Sets: Kat/Vera Fic

This is a Kat/ Vera fic but also has a little bit of L/S thrown into it.


Kat groaned as she walked into headquarters trying so hard to avoid Vera. Sure she had slept with him on and off the past six months. Now it made it harder since the two had spend every waking moment together. Vera was no longer with Toni since he knew his heart belonged with Kat all along; but knew this was the right move.

One good aspect was that he treated Veronica like own; which was something Kat liked. Just knowing that made her feel a lot better. Looking upward, her heart did a triple beat like always while walking near Vera.

“Morning” he answered before hearing a groan” How they did go”.

Kat picked up some papers” We’ll talk later okay”.

Vera turned and looked at her; deeply concerned but knew when to back off. It soon got worse until he came out with an outburst. Soon her secret had slipped” Don’t ever get me pregnant again” she yelled as both Scotty and Lilly quickly turned around in their seats.

His smiled widened” You mean we’re going to have a baby”?

Kat groaned once more” Try about two of them” before gently rubbed her stomach.

Now shocked and a loss for words, Vera’s eyes grew bigger” You mean” before she handed him a picture from her recent
sonogram. Scotty chuckled from nearby” Guess you can’t play poker anymore”.

“Either can you” Lilly said chiming in.

He turned to her” What”.

She smiled “Better make it two more also”.

Now this was so much for one man to take never mind two now. Scotty’s face was priceless as he found it difficult to digest. The picture said it all, they were going to have twins; which in itself was odd. Two babies, Scotty’s knees were shaking not knowing what to do or say.

On the other hand, Vera was feeling the same way as he and Scotty made their way out of the bullpen.

Both Lilly and Kat smiled at each other; amused by all of this. Now with them each having twins things were going to be different from now on.

In the elevator, Vera paced around in circles as fear spread through his entire body. He wanted this badly but having two babies; was something he couldn’t handle.
Even Scotty was a bundle of nerves but tried to not make a scene like Vera just did.

“This can’t be, two babies” he rambled” I don’t know what to do” before repeating it over and over again.

As Scotty stood there in fright unsure of what to tell Lilly. When the door had opened, he was pushed out as Vera pushed the doors closed.

About an hour later, both Vera and Scotty walked back in calmly.
Scotty felt sick went he saw Lilly’s hand touching her abdomen; before rushing into the bathroom. When he came out she was standing there.

“Calm down” she said

He drew in a deep breath, before heading back into the bullpen.

All this baby stuff was bothering Vera, as he sat there holding onto Kat’s hand. She had been rushed into the emergency room after feeling something usual. As he heard the sound a fast heartbeat, Vera’s head cocked up to see two images on the screen. A burst of happiness ripped through his veins as he leaned over to kiss Kat.

“There’s seems to be nothing wrong with your babies, in fact they are very healthy” the doctor spoke before shutting off the screen. After wiping off the gel, Vera kissed her stomach before gazing into her eyes.
“Love you” he whispered.

Meanwhile, Scotty lay there looking right at Lilly’s abdomen. He wondered how she was carrying both of their babies; but it made him smile that he was going to become a father.

“I think we’re having two boys” he said

Lilly smiled” I want a girl”

He moved closer to her wondering how in the world they were going to deal with two babies at one time. Even by morning, Kat stayed home to rest after what had happened last night. Meanwhile Vera took Veronica to school before catching up with Scotty.

“I just saw something incredible last night” Vera said
Scotty grinned” What a new commercial”?
“No it just sounded so real, our babies”.
Scotty shook his head still afraid to hear that sound for himself, before thinking about having the deal with two screaming babies. He still was a bundle of nerves; especially now that Vera was catching on. Even when Kat had called, Vera tried to avoid her slightly panicking whenever the subject of their unborn children were mentioned.

Also, I just wanted to point out something that I modified:

"Vera was no longer with Toni since he knew his heart belonged with Kat all along;but knew this was the right move"

You cannot put a semi-colon between "along" and "but" because they are not independent clauses. A semi-colon makes it into two seperate sentences and adds a pause. Therefore, it can only work if there is two independent clauses.

This is why I modified it to:

Vera was no longer with Toni; since he knew his heart belonged with Kat all along, but knew this was the right move.

Just thought it was important for you to know when to use a semi-colon. Also, you use commas where they're not suppose to be sometimes. Other times, you don't use them at all when they're suppose to be there. It's all about word sequence.

For the example above, you didn't need a semi-colon. That should have been a comma.

Please don't hate me for this, LII. I just want you to be the best writer you can be. I know you have it in you.

Again, no one has to listen to me, the teenager. You don't even have to listen to anyone. Just write. Writing is good for the soul. That's all it matters in writing, which, is why I love it. When you write with passion, your writing becomes better in your own mind. Do not care about what the critics think. I mean that, LII.

I could point out a few more things, but I think i'll stop being an "@ss" and start complimenting the plot.

I'm not a big fan of shipping in fanfics, but it was a good job . It's about time someone finally did a "Kat/Vera" fanfic.

PLEASE DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING I SAY THE WRONG WAY. IT IS NOT A SLASH OR ANYTHING. JUST CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM

Because I know when I get some stupid comments flaming my vid like: "I hate this video because it shows Booth cheating on Brennan". I get p!ssed at the person, especially when he/she has never made a video and doesn't know how much time and effort we put into our creations.

I hope this chapter is better,I'm really working on the writing a lot.

Even at night, Vera couldn’t sleep knowing that in six months he was going to become a father of not one baby but two. The thought of that made him even more nervous; as sweat poured down from his forehead. Getting up he headed down to a bar before sitting down next to Scotty who had just been served a second bottle of beer.

“Six months” he grumbled making Scotty more nervous” Don’t mention it okay”?

As the two men sat there drinking, Vera began to hyperventilate” I can’t sleep or doing anything”.

It was good timing that Stillman had walked into the bar; upon seeing his two detectives as nervous wreak. Vera had actually spilled beer all over him before heading into the bathroom.

“How you holding up” Stillman said

Scotty let out a sigh” I don’t know after Lil told me we’re having twins”.

He patted the younger man’s back “Ever first time father is nervous, but you need to be there for her”.

After putting down his drink, Scotty began to think about how much he loved Lilly. She had meant everything to him maybe that was enough. Just ten minutes Vera came back still shaking hard “What if we’re not good fathers”?

That question still went unanswered even when the two reported to work the next morning. Lilly was down in the warehouse trying to find a case box.

“We need to talk” Scotty said

Lilly stood there as he came closer pulling her into an embrace “I still love you” he whispered.

She smiled “I love you too, I know you are nervous”.

They then broke their embrace as Scotty glanced over at her abdomen” They okay”?

“Just hungry lately” before the two resumed trying to find the box. When Lilly had found it, he took the box upstairs not wanting her to be lifting that. After returned back to the bullpen, both Kat and Vera were fighting like that had before getting together.

“Do you really expect me to believe that” she said

Vera touched her shoulder as she smacked his face; ignoring the stares. Now he was helpless wanting to somehow make it up; but couldn’t figure anything out. Kat wasn’t really mad at him; she was overly tired from lack of sleep.

By 2pm however she came around” Sorry” as Vera gently rubbed her back.

“It’s got to hard carrying them inside of you”.

Kat smiled as before she spoke” Maybe it will be two girls”.

“No way, I want two boys” Vera grinning while looking over at Scotty’s direction” Do you think so”?

As the two men agreed, Lilly and Kat went into break room while watching the men.

“First they are nervous Nellies, now look” while seeing both Scotty and Vera comparing sonogram pictures

Lilly shook her head” I think at least one of them is a girl”

“Too bad I can either have one or the other” Kat said but at least I have Veronica.
Outside, Vera practically shoved it in Scotty’s face” Look they are both boys”.

Kat then took the picture away” Back to work Boys” before Scotty noticing Lilly’s hand going to her abdomen.

“You okay” he asked concerned before placing his hand there. Then his face grew with happiness and wonder, feeling the movements underneath. In all of one motion, Scotty once again felt sick.

“He’s one nervous Daddy to be” Kat said

Lilly rolled her eyes” Scotty’s been sick ever since I had gotten pregnant”. Within fifteen minutes, another cop came in to alert her that he had been taken to the emergency room.

In the emergency room, Lilly walked down to a room flashing her badge at a doctor.

“You Detective Rush” he said dumbfound.

“How’s he doing”?

The doctor led her over to the side” Actually there’s nothing wrong with him, we’ll release him an hour”.

Lilly let out a sigh before heading into the room. Scotty was sitting up while the nurse was taking his vital signs; but he looked happy to see her. After the woman had left, she sat down on the bed while the two talked it out. For the most part, Lilly knew that he didn’t actually pass out but was brief panic attack brought on by nervousness.

An hour later the two left the hospital, Scotty wanted to stay near her. While they headed over back to her place; Kat was dealing with an impatient Vera at baby store.

“What’s your problem now” she said

He didn’t answer but continued to pile more stuff into the cart.

Veronica then came out from one of the aisles” Nick look at this” she said excitedly.

Kat couldn’t help but smile at the fact that he was good to her daughter; before turning her attention back at bunch of pink sleepers. After spending so much, Kat lay down on the couch while Vera and Veronica went out for pizza.

Meanwhile, Scotty lay there next to Lilly in bed.

“You really want two boys” she asked.

He turned over” Maybe but I know how much you want a little girl” before kissing her” You do look beautiful like this”.

A smile formed on Lilly’s face” You want to find out”?

“No you can” he responded.

When Scotty came back to work the next day, he tried his best to keep himself calm. Halfway through the day Vera was running so fast before crashing to ground. Kat was upset especially since her lunch was all over the floor. Getting up she joined Lilly as the two went out together; leaving the men there to wonder.

At a diner, Lilly could see that Kat was stressed.

“That bad “

“Nick’s driving me insane, is frantic every time I ask him for something”.

Lilly chuckled” Scotty panics also, but we’re going baby shopping tonight”.

As the two detectives enjoyed lunch, Vera was pacing back and forth in the bullpen.

“What if she’s having them?”

Scotty came out drinking a bottle of water” Too early, will you quit pacing”.

“Can’t sleep these babies are driving me crazy” as Jefferies grinned at him” Surprised you aren’t following Rush around”.

Scotty didn’t respond instead shifting his attention back to the case. About fifteen minutes later, Lilly and Kat returned.

“That’s sick” he commented on upon seeing popcorn on top of an ice cream sundae.

“Don’t ask me” Lilly said pointing to her stomach before hearing Kat yelling at Vera.


“I get nervous”.
Kat shot him a look” Just get the hell away from me “.

If things got worse it did, and wouldn’t stop until after their babies were born. Even when Scotty took Lilly baby shopping he was a lot calmer but still had gotten on her nerves as well.

It was luckily that there were able to purchase furniture without a fight. When it came to the clothes, well the two had a big disagreement in that. It had gotten to the point that Lilly would be the one buying them since Scotty didn’t want to know either one of the sexes of their children. By the time they had gotten hope, Lilly lost it.

“Just go out Scotty, I can’t take you acting like this”

Scotty came closer” What over baby clothes”.

“No it’s everything; I can’t take six more months of this”.


“What are you implying”?

Lilly shot him a look” I’m implying at anything, just please let me relax”.

Knowing that stress wasn’t good for her, Scotty left and went down to the tavern. Sure enough it was First Thursdays as he sat down next to Jefferies.


“Thought you was baby shopping”.

“Lil snapped into a bad mood”.

Vera grumbled” Miller’s like that also” before ordering them both each a drink.


That wasn’t the case since both Kat and Lilly went back to the baby store. There the two bought clothes and other stuff without the men around. For the most part it was fun, especially seeing how excited Veronica was.

“ Mom, Nick’s here” sure enough the two men were seen in another aisle.

Without another word, the two paid and left the store. As Lilly and Kat walked back to their apartments; they knew the men were equally spoiling their babies. That wasn’t the case, since Scotty and Vera had left soon afterwards before deciding on a quick alibi.

By the time that Scotty had gotten home, he carefully hid all the baby stuff in a closet. Looking up, Lilly was standing there with an empty bowl in her hands.

“Where did you get those bags”?

“Um, they are from the hardware store” as Lilly raised an eyebrow” You got proof”?

Scotty let out a laugh” I’m not a suspect” before seeing her try to go near the closet.
He led her away but she then saw the baby clothes. Her face was priceless “You and Vera went baby shopping”?

Downtown Kat asked the same question, as Vera shrugged. He remained silent trying not to look guilty. “Don’t grill me on that” before handing her a big bowl of ice cream.

She sat down and began to eat it, while Vera rubbed her back
“Just relax” he whispered before Kat soon had drifted off into a very deep sleep. For Lilly, she was so hungry that Scotty tried his best to get satisfy her cravings.

“What do you now”?
“Ice cream; with everything including cheese on top”
Repulsing as it had sounded, Scotty got up” Don’t forget the cookies”.

He hated doing this especially going on in the freezing cold temperatures. After getting all the food, Scotty returned before putting it together. When he had served it to her, Lilly pouted” Where’s the cookies”?

He let out a slight laugh” You’re kidding me right”?

“It’s fine” before digging into it. After she had finished, Lilly peered down” Let Mommy sleep okay” before rubbing her abdomen. When the two had finally fell asleep, glad it was the weekend. This time both he and Vera were going to pamper them.

That morning, Lilly awoke as he served her breakfast in bed.

“Morning Beautiful”

“You didn’t have to”

Scotty kissed her forehead “I have the most beautiful fiancé in Philly”.

If that was love, Vera was letting Veronica help cook breakfast. He adapted well to being a father figure to her; but more importantly she like to spend time with him.

“Let me get Mommy” before seeing Kat standing there. As the two kissed, Veronica sat down” We got pancakes”.
“She helped but I did most of it” Vera boosted.

Kat had noticed the mess in the kitchen knowing that she would be the one cleaning it up afterwards.

“I want a sister” Veronica said while pouring maple syrup onto her pancakes.
The two the shared a look, but right after she put down her fork’ I’m not going to clean this up”.

Vera leaned over and kissed “Don’t worry I will”
“Oh brother” Kat replied while rolling her eyes.

Scotty made sure the kitchen was spotless, knowing her temper. In fact after breakfast, he began to work on the nursery. His first step was painting the room; something that Lilly couldn’t do. In fact it gave her sometime to attend a prenatal yoga class that she and Kat had signed up for.

Vera was doing the same thing; as Veronica helped him.
“Are you going to marry Mommy”?
Vera smiled as he opened up a box” Don’t tell her okay”
“Deal”

By the time that Kat had another appointment, she noticed that Lilly had one also. This was intentional but it was good, since the two had become a lot closer. Sitting on both sides was Veronica and Vera who was bursting with nervousness. Glancing over, Scotty was acting the same way as Lilly took his hand into hers.


When her name was called, the two left before walking into another room.
“It’s going to be okay” Lilly said pulling back her shirt.
Scotty peered over” You look beautiful like that” before a doctor came in pouring some gel onto her stomach. In a couple of seconds, the two saw their babies on the screen. He was in shock but felt a sense of happiness as a smile formed on his face.

In the next room, Vera gently kissed Kat’s forehead.
“Are they both boys and girls” asked Veronica.
“Don’t know yet, it’s too early” replied Kat” You can come with me when I find out next month”

When the sonogram was finished, Lilly sat up as Scotty gently rubbed off the gel.
“Their kicking” he said
She smiled” I think my little girl is in there”.
He placed his hand on top of hers” Hope there is one” wanting at least a daughter.

Afterwards, the two walked through a park together. Yet again Kat and Vera were already there as he got down on one knee.
“Will you marry me” he asked
“Oh tell me you are not serious” she said
The look displayed on Vera’s face was serious as Kat saw the diamond ring sitting inside of a box. Tears began to stream downward as he slipped it onto her finger. She then kissed him before hearing the sound two familiar voices.

“Isn’t this the happy couple” joked Scotty” You serious about marrying him”.
Kat shot him a look “What’s it to you, I’m carrying his kids “.
Vera then put his arm around her” Stay away from my fiancé and stepdaughter”.
That name made Kat well up into tears knowing that Veronica never had a father, now she had one. Her crying continued even as he held her close. At that point, both Lilly and Scotty decided to leave not wanting to get in the middle of it.

Even at night, Vera had noticed that Veronica wasn’t asleep” What’s wrong?”
She didn’t answer as he pulled her into an embrace” I love you V, to me you will always be my daughter”.
Veronica looked up” What about the babies”
“I’ll promise to take you to several games”.
A smile formed on her face, as she got into bed” Night Nick”
“Night V” he said before kissing her.

From outside Kat was crying softly after hearing how loving he was. Maybe things weren’t as bad as she had thought. Now touching the knob to the nursery, Vera stopped her.

“I haven’t finished yet” he whispered before the two of them kissed.

By the time Kat had found out what she was having, Vera was on rapid fire in efforts to find out.
In fact everyday was a fight but it seemed to make Scotty even ask the same question.

“So what are we ha-“

“Don’t you even ask that question” Lilly retorted placing hand on her stomach.

He shrugged” I’d like to know”.

Lilly rolled her eyes” Four months “before heading down to the warehouse.

Down there both Kat and Vera were heard arguing loudly. It had gotten to the point that she was threatening to sell her engagement ring; and take custody of the babies. Vera wasn’t about to lose anything; as he tried to apologize.

For two weeks, the men had kept it up.

“Lil enough, tell me what they are”.

“Babies who don’t stop kicking nonstop, you happy now”?

Scotty moved closer as Lilly walked away” I didn’t find out”.

“What” his face was priceless.

“Either did me “Replied Kat.

Both Vera and Scotty looked shocked after two weeks of back massages, and spoiling them both. Now they knew this was just an elaborate setup. Kat chuckled before pulling out a box of cookies, but Lilly’s hands went to her abdomen.

“You two are both surprises” Lilly whispered to them

Scotty grinned” Yeah two boys”.

The women each rolled their eyes before going out for something to eat. Somehow they spent at least ten minutes indulging on a pizza with everything on it.
“I rather know when they are born” Lilly said

Kat agreed” Just hope Nick doesn’t act like stupid when they arrive, but knowing him that’s expected”.
For the rest of the day, every other question retorted back to the babies. It had gotten to the point that Stillman had banned any baby talk even after they were born. He too couldn’t stand hearing Vera going on and on constantly.

When a cop from a different division had came in, Vera automatically let his mouth run” I’m going to be a father”, grinning over at his fiancés way.

“Oh Brother” groaned Kat as Lilly shot Scotty a cold look.

If it got worse he brought Scotty into it, as the three men talked about them. Stillman then came out “Valens, Vera in my office now”.

When the men went inside, both Kat and Lilly grinned at each other.
“ So what time is the shower” Kat asked as Lilly had an odd look on her face” Relax it’s not a surprise one”.
While they discussed the baby shower, Stillman was giving the men a lecture.
“You two need to keep this out of the office, but the guys and I are having a celebration tomorrow’.
Scotty looked surprised as they all shook on it.
After coming out the two looked annoyed, pretending that Stillman had actually yelled at him. Lilly rolled her eyes before heading into the interrogation room with Kat. By the next day, Scotty had come down to see the house being decorated by Lilly’s friend Lindsey.

“Where’s Lil” before seeing her.

“Anything I can do beautiful”

Lilly smiled” Get out, I’ll be fine” she said before kissing him. After he had left, Kat arrived with Veronica as other female cops arrived. Meanwhile the guys were surprised as they were greeted with two huge glassed of beer, before being toasted to. Scotty was in full glory while raving on about babies and Lilly, but made the mistake of telling a story about her.

Coincidently so did Vera, which went got around would cause a rift between him and Kat.

I like Scotty and Nick in your story, they're so nervous all the time. You've written that well. I can understand everything.

After the party was over, Lilly lay on the couch while looking at all of the baby stuff spreading out on the coffee table. She smiled hoping to one of the babies would be a girl; but was aching to find out. Just an hour later, Scotty returned home to find her fast asleep on the couch. He couldn’t help but cover Lilly up, before taking the baby stuff upstairs.

The scenario was the same as Vera plopped into bed beside Kat. As he had begun to snore loudly, Kat stirred wanting to sleep but that never happened. Even at work, she looked even more tired.

“Late night” Lilly asked

“Vera snores like a hog” causing the blonde to smile.

At that moment Scotty came in not looking hung over like Vera was. Instead he moved closer before giving Lilly was kiss on the cheek. If the day was going to get better it wasn’t especially when Kat overheard a story about her.

“You told them that” her eyes growing wider.

Vera knew he was in for it, especially about one that was so personal. He had promised her never to discuss it again, but make that mistake last night. Scotty also had told a story but it wasn’t about that, in fact more about their first date. His eyes flew opened when Kat began to yell loudly at Vera.

Stillman then came out as Kat looked up” You told this in front of the boss”?

“It’s guy stuff”

“Get your things” before throwing her diamond ring at him.

At this point, Lilly pulled Scotty into another room.

“Okay I know you must have said something”.

He shrugged” Just about our first date, remember that restaurant I had taken you to”.

A smile appeared on her face but then snapped into cop mode” What else”.
Scotty came closer” We didn’t even sleep together that night, besides I won’t go to that point”.

Lilly scanned his face for guiltiness but found nothing. As the two had come out, she went into the bathroom to find Kat moaning in pain.
“You okay”.
“Yeah I think I’m going into labor”.

In one motion she took her down to the hospital, but found it was a false alarm. Kat was still admitted just to be on the safe side. When Vera had gotten the news, he panicked and rush down to the hospital, pushing people to the side.

He then tripped and fell as Scotty stood there” You really need to relax”.

Those words didn’t mean anything when he saw Lilly standing there” They okay” he asked pointing.
A smile appeared on her face” Yeah I’m fine” before the two stood outside the room. Inside Vera walked in upon seeing Kat sitting up.

“How they doing”?

“Fine, doctor just wants to keep me overnight”.

Vera sat down nervously” Are they coming”

“No, but I need to take it easy”.
His hand the gliding onto her stomach” I’m sorry, being with you is the best thing in the world”.
Kat let out a breath allowing his lips to fall onto hers. In a split second, the ring slipped back onto her finger.

Meanwhile Lilly and Scotty decided to give them sometime as they walked out the hospital together. He knew in just four months things would be a lot different. Not wanting the same to happen, Scotty ran around like a chicken without its head, to ensure everything was taken care of.

“Stop it” Lilly said” We’re all fine, but you need to relax”.
Scotty drew in a breath “Want to see the room “?
Nodding softly, he opened the door as she looked completely surprised” You didn’t have to do this”
He bent down “Just wanted our babies to have the best” before kissing her stomach. Scotty then pressed his head gently against there. Peering down, Lilly smiled as the two of them enjoyed this moment together.

Just two days after Kat had been released, Vera was becoming frantic every time that she had called. It had gotten to the point that Jefferies had to step in.
“Will you lay off Nick” he said.
“But the-“and was interrupted” Case needs to be solved” Lilly said chiming in.
Scotty smiled before discussing possibly motives, before doing a two hour interrogation. When they came out Vera was reading a pregnancy book.
“I think I have several signs” he said.
Lilly rolled her eyes” Yeah it’s called Nervous Daddy to be syndrome”.
“No look Rush, I’m have those symptoms”.
Stillman even had to chuckle” Alright you and the little mother to be go check out this lead, Lil I need you stay here”

After they had left, Stillman noticed both of her hands there” Lil”
“Its okay boss, Hiccups”.
He smiled knowing that she still had four months to go. When Scotty had gotten back his headache was worse, in fact he couldn’t even focus.
“Worse”.
“Vera wouldn’t shut the hell up; he’s now convinced he’s pregnant”.

No sooner after the outburst did Lilly leave the office to attend another yoga session. In fact she was laughing inside about how much Vera was losing it but knew that Scotty wasn’t about to join in. That part was true since he tried to avoid him at all cost.

At 6pm, his head was pounding so hard that it was lucky he had made it home safe. Now in bed, Lilly placed a cold cloth on his forehead before Scotty closed his eyes. While he was sleeping, she began to search for some baby names. Usually Lilly’s attention was still on the case but her mind was now on her babies.

Vera had somehow kept quiet before seeing Kat reading a book. When he found out it was a book on baby names, the two got into a mini argument about it. Then it had stopped when Vera had said he wanted to legally adopt Veronica as his.

“I’m serious about this” he whispered before getting into bed. Kat smiled” Then be serious and get me something to eat”.
“You could have called”
“Why it so you can get ever more nervous”?

Vera smiled and went into the kitchen to make her something to eat. Upon coming back, he spoon fed her some ice cream.
During the next few weeks, came more debate about what to name their babies. For Lilly and Scotty had agree to decide once she had given birth, that way they could be sure about it. What made him even more nervous is when Lilly had said she was now just six months along.

Now in three months he was going to be a father. In fact that was scaring Scotty so bad, that he wanted to crawl into a cave and just hide; but considering that there were no caves in Philadelphia it wasn’t going to happen.

The birth is in the next chapter

By their seventh month, Kat and Lilly did something that they knew would scare their both of their fiancés. During another baby shower this one being a surprise, the two were having their bellies painted on. Lilly could feel the twins kicking inside of her as she let out a laugh; even Kat was feeling the same way.

About two hours later, the two men walked into the room startled by the designs on both of their stomachs.

“What is that” Scotty pointed out looking at the rock and roll design on Lilly’s stomach.

“You like, I think they do”.

He chuckled” Didn’t think you were into that stuff, except your cases”.

Lilly rolled her eyes, before eating another slice of cake. Vera didn’t want to come any closer to Kat since this whole thing was freaking him out. After they gathered up all of the presents the two almost had forgotten their fiancés.

“How nice of you to forget about us” Kat groaned “Help us up”.

Nick chuckled” I think you need to lose weight” before she threw something at him.
He then helps her up before rushing to answer his phone. In the meantime, Scotty took Lilly’s hand as the two went outside; there the men continued their conversation.

“What the hell is wrong with you both” Kat asked before hearing overhearing their conversation.

“You know this paint is washable”

The two men turned around looking like fools, causing the women to laugh loudly. After that Scotty knew that his nervousness wasn’t going to get him anywhere. In fact later when they attendee Lamaze class, everyone commented how much of a good coach Scotty was.

For Kat and Vera that wasn’t easy, in fact this class was making him more nervous. It had gotten so bad that the two had to leave. She was tiffed at him, but at home he had made it up to her.

Just two weeks later, Lilly awoke with several pains” Scotty”
He moaned but didn’t answer as she kept shaking him” We need to get to the hospital”.

“Ten more minutes” before the realization hit him. Scotty leaped up before rushing her into the car, inside Lilly breathed harder while counting her contractions. Kat was also headed down to the hospital with a very nervous Nick Vera next to her.

In the delivery room, Kat was screaming her head off at Vera. For one thing, he was way too nervous to pay any attention. Just as he was about to get some ice, he tripped and slid down the hallway. Just his luck that there was sign stating that floor was wet. Just a couple of doors down, Scotty was coaching Lilly as more pains shot right through her.

“Breathe Lil” he said “You’re doing well”.

Lilly moaned again in pain” I hate you” she yelled” I don’t have one in there but two”

“Wasn’t my fault my boys hit two of your eggs”, trying to have some knowledge of biology

“Shut up Valens” Lilly yelled throwing ice at him.

Scotty tried to remain calm knowing that it was just the pain that was talking. Instead he resumed feeding her some ice chips that seemed to work. They two of them knew it would be awhile before their babies were born.

In the meantime, Vera was so nervous that he got lost trying to find the room. It had gotten so bad that he started wander around before realizing he was near the room.

Once inside, Kat let out another moan” GET ME SOME ICECHIPS” she hollered.

Moving closer Vera spilled out some of it, before guiding the rest into her mouth. He then gently blotted her forehead. As her contractions began to speed up, Kat let out a moan wanting to push them out.

Even Lilly was in miserable pain as a doctor was already there making Scotty ever more scared.

“Push Lil” as she gripped onto his hand.


Lilly pushed harder “What the hell did you do to me”.

“Nothing keeps pushing” he said trying to be encouraging.

“It hurts” she moaned as Scotty kissed her forehead” I know but you got to keep pushing”.

“Yeah don’t you” before another painful contraction shot right through her. Lilly then let out a yell scream due to all the pain.

For Kat she was pushing so hard that Vera was becoming queasy from all of this.

He didn’t know what to say or react but just stand there holding her hand. After two pushed a newborn’s cry hit the air as the doctor looked up” It’s a girl”.

At that second Vera was so dizzy he couldn’t even see straight, even ten minutes later when his second daughter was born.


Now able to give birth, Lilly was crying out while pushing. She couldn’t stand the pain any longer as Scotty looked over watching his child coming into the world.

He too was dizzy but it was the most beautiful thing that he’d ever had seen; especially seeing it cry out for the first time.

“It’s a boy” the doctor said as Lilly breathed out wanting to push again.

Scotty was overjoyed but at the same time feeling extremely overwhelmed.

“Last one Lil, you can do it” he whispered kissing her forehead.
Fifteen minutes later, Lilly gave it one last push as another newborns cry filled the room” You two have a baby girl”.

As their daughter and son were placed onto Lilly’s chest, she cried softly kissing both of them.

Scotty was nearing the point of passing out, as he looked over at his children. Feeling a wave of nausea he raced into the bathroom before throwing up. When he felt better, Scotty wobbled out into the hallway to tell both Stillman and Jefferies the news.

Scotty was so overwhelmed that he couldn’t stop raving about his two children. Looking over he saw two people wheeling Vera out on a stretcher. He was shaking quite hard, before vomiting all over himself.

“Got your son after all” Jefferies said.

Scotty smiled” Glad I have my little girl” before heading back into the room. Inside Lilly looked up as he kissed her” Proud of you”.
“Don’t mention it” she whispered gazing down at her babies.
He then took his daughter to his arms” How about we call her Emily”.

Lilly gave a small smile” Aiden” before kissing her son” Never thought we’d have two babies at once”.

After Vera was examined he was escorted back to the room, still shaking.
Kat shook her head” Come here Nick”.

He then looked at the babies before passing out again, letting the word triplets be the last word before his body hit the ground.

While Kat was thinking about possible names for her two newborn daughters; Vera was now sitting there scared not knowing how to care for them plus Veronica. Their apartment was a little too small for their now expanded family; but grew angry about the fact that they both didn’t have any money to spend.

“I think I have some names”

He let out a breath” How about Jessica and Tabitha”

Kat rolled her eyes as Vera took one of the girls into his arms. She wasn’t going to argue with him but watched how he interacted with them. Then Tabitha cried out as Vera gently placed her back into her mother’s arms.

“Think she’s hungry” he whispered.

“It’s amazing that don’t resemble you Nick”

Vera peered over at Jessica” It’s okay maybe next time we’ll have boy looking like me”.

Kat sighed before the nurse came in holding another baby before Vera soon realized he needed to buy a house. Especially with four daughters to rise; as more pressure was now set upon him.


In the next room, Scotty was sitting on the bed before handing Lilly a key” You didn’t”.
His smiled warmed” I think later on Emily and Aiden are going to need their own rooms, besides there isn’t going to be room for our next child”.
Lilly raised her eyebrows” Next child Scotty, you think you can hold that thought for two years”.

That night Scotty and his brother quickly moved stuff into the house, he even worked so hard to reconstruct the nursery. By morning, Scotty rushed down to the hospital tripping over him.

“Ready to go” he asked before kissing her “To our new house”?
As the nurse wheeled Lilly out, she noticed that both Kat and Vera had all of their hands full. His expression was one that nobody would forget. Peering down at her babies, Lilly felt lucky to be a mother.
In the car, Scotty drove much slower as more nervousness began to pour in. When the car pulled in front of their new house, Lilly couldn’t believe her eyes.
