Hey everybody!
Since there are some controversial discussions about that movie I wanted to hear your opinion about the movie and about the topic.
I haven't seen it yet but I can't wait to see it. I want to know what people are so excited about.

I haven't seen it but I read the book and I think Ron Howard tried to just recreate the book. I'll hold my thoughts for now. Give others a chance to respond.

I went to see it on Friday night and I must admit after reading the book as well I found the movie to be a little disappointing. I won't say much about it for those who have yet to see it but I didn't like the way some things were done/changed in the film and the actors, in my opinion, were ordinary. The movie just lacked something in my opinion...others may feel differently!?

Now, that I've seen it I'm a bit disappointed. I like that it is so close to the book and the actors are good but in my opinion, if you know the book it's boring.
I don't understand why church is against that movie?!? I think it's quiet obvious that Dan Brown made all that up, also he says it's fact. Why is church always against everything? I hope nobody feels insulted when I say that church ruins so many things for me these days. If you think differently feel free to tell me about you opinion.
I could start a never ending discussion about religion but I think I'll stop here.
Still interested in your opinion!!! ;D

I have seen it too and like BAM I have read the book as well. Like many other movies based off a book it was easy to tell that they tried to fit as much information into the 3 hours (I think it was) as possible. But still it seems like they don't capture it all. I felt the same way about the Harry Potter movies. And I wonder if you get all of it if you haven't read the book? All in all I had quite a bland experience. The actors were ok. Liked Teabing and Bezu Fache the best because they were exactly how I had imagined them in the book. I was contemplating to just rent the movie when it comes out on dvd, and now I wish I had. For me it wasn't what I had hoped for. That's all

I LOVED IT. I finished reading the book at 2 am and at 2.30pm the next day I was sitting in a cinema and couldn't wait. It was Friday and I still can't say anything but how gorgeous it was! I loved it, ahhh... tiger_lilly --> as far as I remember it was 149 minutes long

i'm debating on seeing the movie. so far, most of the people who read the book say the movie was dissapointing... but i've been waiting so long for this to come out that i feel i should see it. the book was so good i couldn't put it down... it would be ashame if the movie didn't do it justice.

I think it rarely happens that the movie does the book justice. One example I can think of where it does is LOTR, but I haven't even read all the books...that's just what I heard.
A book I am dreading to see made into a movie is The Golden Compass series...
I felt the same way, that I had waited for it to come out and had to see it. I say GO SEE IT, because otherwise you might regret it and it will be too late.

I didn't see the movie (basically because I wait to rent the DVD) but it would be a bit disappointing to those that read the book and it wasn't complete. Although I read that Ron Howard didn't do much with character development and stuck to recreating the book. From what I've seen of the promo I was impressed with the recreation.
Now I understand that this could be a heated subject but I don't see how if Jesus were to marry in the Jewish tradition and had a child how that would make him less of the man/God attributes proclaimed in the Bible. He still came to earth to save mankind. I fail to see the blasphemy involved in this thinking from the church. I mean Jesus wore clothes, ate food, sleep ed and had all the other bodily functions we have so why is the thought of him marrying a problem? I certainly don't think any less of him or his purpose or message.

I certainly don't think any less of him or his purpose or message. I think it is partly the whole idea of Jesus being someone else than we always thought he was. Plus Mary Magdalene was a lovely woman according to the bible. And then there is the whole aspect of celibacy. If he was married AND she got pregnant that idea is kinda down the drain right? I am no expert at this so correct me if I am wrong please. I don't have a problem with the message of the book, I was pretty intrigued by it when I read it. Though I don't know how much of it is fact or fiction. I do find it weird how so many people can get in such a fuss over it. It proves that christianity is living strongly still I guess.

I just saw the movie this weekend, and thought it was OK. I didn't like most of the casting (I pictured Teabing to look like Richard Attenborough). The book is a million times better. I was very mad that they changed some things for the movie as well, especially the Bishop and the last scene at Rosalind Church. It irked.

overall, i was pretty let down by the movie... i kind of just kept waiting for it to end. i liked audrey tautau or whatever her last name is, as sophi, although, sometimes she expressed her lines with such flatness that it looked like she didn't want to be there.
at first i was worried about tom hanks but he did an ok job... i guess i just liked the book a lot more.

It cost 125 million to make the movie. I think the first two weeks brought in close to 117 million. *Not sure if that was worldwide.
Has anyone heard a figure more recent? I'm guessing this one will get heavily rented.

I heard about 642 million dollars and 453 millions outside US ;] They made a lot of money. If everything goes well I am going to see it for the second time in the cinema tomorrow, yupi! :]

Wow, they did rake it in then. That is amazing. The movie industry needed the money and got lucky on this one. I don't recall how much the Passion of Christ earned. I heard about 642 million dollars and 453 millions outside US ;] They made a lot of money. If everything goes well I am going to see it for the second time in the cinema tomorrow, yupi! :]

I think, with all that church publicity it's no surprise. People always want to see thinks that are critizied.
I read an article about Dan Brown's first book (is the English title "Angels & Demons"?). Is it true that they want to make a movie based on that book, too???

Angels and Demons is not as good as The Da Vinci Code imo. But the two books have MANY similarities.
