I missed the Grammys because I was on a marathon roadtrip home last night. How were they? Any good performances or shocking moments?

I missed the Grammys because I was on a marathon roadtrip home last night. How were they? Any good performances or shocking moments? ;D I seem to have forgottent this thread. I think the Grammys get better every year because it represents a cross section of all the musical genres. That's what I enjoy about it. The best performances, I thought, were Lynyrd Skynyrd and Melissa Etheridge. The worst performances were Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony and the group of artists that put a song together to benefit the Tsunami. God that was awful! ~Naj

I heard the Melissa Ethridge performance was amazing. I caught her interview on Dateline last night, and they showed bits and pieces of the Grammy performance. That was a great performance. I also heard that the Alicia Keys performance was good, too. I haven't seen any video of that, though.
My mom said that the Jennifer Lopez/Marc Anthony duet was terrible too, Naj. I watched the video for the Tsunami performance, but I wasn't impressed with that either. It's too bad b/c that song ("Across the Universe") is really quite pretty when Fionna Apple sings it.

Yup. Melissa was great. It was difficult to get used to seeing her bald head, though. Who better than her to sing Janis. I don't think there is anyone else who can do it.
Oscars are this weekend. There are too many award shows.

Totally agree with you, Naj. Melissa sings Janis like nobody else. I LOVE her rendition of "Piece of My Heart."
I can't believe there are so many awards shows. It really is out of hand. I used to watch them all, but not so much anymore. They're very redundant. The same people/shows/director/etc win all the time.
