I am a big movie buff but I usually don't post here about films I see but I have to make an exception with this movie.
In Good Company was one of the best films I've seen in a long time. Dennis Quaid played the aging ad salesman with two teenage children and a baby on the way so perfectly. Marg Helgenberger from CSI plays his wife. But the star of this comedy was Topher Grace who just jumped right up there on my favorite actor list. He plays the VERY young businessman who's been assigned to take over Dennis Quaid's management position after a corporate takeover, reducing Dennis Quaid to working for a boss half his age. I've seen Topher over the years on That 70's Show but wasn't overlly impressed. This movie changed my mind. His comedic instincts are unbelievable and the character he plays can be a bit slimey in a few scenes but you never feel anything but admiration and sorrow for him. A strange combo, I know. But you just have to see this move. There dinner scene at Quaid's house and the first Porsche scene are classic. The only thing I didn't care for was the ending which was okay but a bit of a let-down after such an amazingly acted film.

I cannot wait to see this film! Everyone has been raving about it. I didn't read your full post Ryebeach (in case it contained something I didn't want to know), but I saw at the top that you really liked it. I'm really looking forward to going. I'm going to try to go this week. I'll let you know after I see it.

My hubby and I actually had a date this past Saturday night and saw this movie. We LOVED it! It is so nice to have a movie out that doesn't involve all the sex and violence that most movies nowadays contain. This is a great storyline and the actors are marvelous.
I love both Dennis Quaid and Topher Grace and joked to my hubby that I could date either because my age is right in between them! LOL! They are both sexy, in my opinion!
It is well worth seeing and I would highly recommend it to anyone!!!

I finally saw this movie this weekend, and I really liked it. I know a lot of people were unhappy with the atypical ending. Even though it was sort of a letdown, I liked it because it wasn't cliche. Topher Grace's character didn't get the girl and he didn't take the job. I liked it because it seemed more like real life. I feel like any other movie would have had the typical Hollywood ending. Although this happens to us sometimes in real life, life just isn't like that most of the time. Plus, it kept me guessing because it didn't follow the usual pattern.
I have to agree with you Ryebeach about Topher Grace. I've never seen That 70s Show, but I know I've seen Topher in other things. He was just amazing in this film. I love his timing. He makes even the seemingly most mundane lines funny. Scarlett did a nice job playing a "normal" role and not one of her usual tour-de-force roles. It was nice to see Marg Helgenberger outside of CSI, and it was nice to see Dennis Quad again - period. Overall, a great well rounded film.
