Has anyone seen the film "The Passion of the Christ"? I can honestly say that the movie was incredible but it's not for young kids. I thought Mel Gibson did an excellent job in directing and the guy who portrayed Jesus was good. And these comments are coming from a person whose religion background is both Jewish and Christian.

My mother is Catholic but I'm not of any religion (she wanted to leave the choice up to both my brother and I, thus why we were never baptized) but I did go and see the movie with her when it was in theatres. I've always believed in Jesus (even though I've only been to church roughly 3 times in my life) but this movie...I started sobbing like 10 mins into it where they spit on him and the tears didn't stop until about 3 days later. I remember sitting in the movie theatre as people were leaving and I'm still sobbing in my seat, and I'm so not one for showing that kind of emotion is public. But this was different. I can't really explain it. But the movie changes you on some level I think. It was excellent, but very very gory. I don't mind gore...I can sit and watch it whenever but during this movie there were times even I had to look away

Boy, Melliemel, we have some things in common. My father is a Methodist and my mother is Jewish and they too wanted to leave the decision of religion to me and my older brother and sister. As of today, I haven't decided on any religion.
I saw the movie with my best friend and I cried my eyes out. I think what it is that makes it so emotional is that the suffering that we see in the movie we can actually applied to a real person unlike what we see in a horror movie. It makes you think that all of our problems and sufferings are nothing compare to what Jesus went through.
Sorry if this got too personal or religious to some.

I also was very moved by the movie. I was raised Catholic, but haven't been to church in a long time. Sadly, I was unaware of a lot of the stuff the movie covered (darn CCD classes that I hated to go to as a child didn't teach me anything). The film was just so sad. I think I started to cry when they started nailing Jesus to the cross and didn't stop all the way until the end. It definitely made an impact on me and really made me think.

I haven't decided on a religion yet either. I have friends who are Catholic, my closest friend is Jewish (though she never says she is ) and I've had friends who were Jehovah's Witness. So it's really spread out. But still here I am lol I dunno I believe in what I believe and I don't see how choosing a religion to be apart of will strengthen my faith do you know what I mean? I'm only 22 maybe when I get older that'll change but as of right now I'm fine :-) yeah I was thinking that. When you're watching the movie you can apply the pain and suffering to a real human being as apposed to just a movie where nothing is real. Have you gotten the dvd?

I got the DVD at midnight when it first went on sale and let me tell you that there was a line for it too.
Great movie! It's one of my all time favorites films along with "Airplane!", "Beauty and the Beast", "Titanic", "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" and "Glory".

Here here, TVFan. I am forced to go to CCD, and i sit there for an hour and basically do nothing. on occasion, we read the book, but i could do that at home, in an hour, and read the whole thing, contrasted to the page or two we do in class. Luckily, conformation is next year (thank god, and pardon the pun) so only a little more agony left! (So basically after i profess that i will be an active member of the church, i get to decide whether i want to or not. great. does didally-squat for me)
but ANYWAY, enough of my complaining. ;D About the DVD, are there any good extra's on it? Im debating whether to get myself a copy or just borrow it from someone. Is it worth it?

I haven't had time to watch the DVD of the movie but by looking at the box I don't think there is any extras on it. I think all they added were subtitles in English and Spanish.

wow there isn't any extra's? I thought it would be packed with stuff. Like how they made it and stuff like that. That's weird but oh well lol btw, I love Monty Python. I haven't seen any of it though in a long time. I love British comedy. Ever seen Absolutely Fabulous? That show so rocks! lol

Increasingly, one sees multiple DVD releases for the most profitable movies. (Several "bites of the apple," as the suits call it.) The initial release in these cases is for viewers who can't wait to catch the film itself on disc. Special editions with features packages will follow down the road. (Five or six "Kill Bill" DVD issues are planned. And how many times has "T2" already hit?) For the companies involved, it's a gift that keeps on giving.

TruBlu - Too funny. I can't beleive someone else knows what CCD is! When I moved from CT to the south in 8th grade, no one knew what I was talking about. There are so few Catholics that everyone is unfamiliar with CCD.
About the DVD, my fiance has already said that he wants it. It's definitely one for posterity.

There may not be any extras on it because maybe there was nothing left to add or the fact that Mel did so many interviews concerning the movie that he felt there was nothing left to say. Then again, the movie speaks for itself.
I too love British comedy. I'm always watching BBC America. I love "Ab Fab". Patsey is a trip. Of course, my parents got me hooked on "Are You Being Served?" and "Keeping Up Appearances". Granted, they are old shows but they're good. Of course, no one can take Monty Python's place. I love the Moron Olympics and the dead bird skit.
