Lilly finds the truth about what happened to her Father after he left.
Lilly sat at her desk thinking to herself, these last few days she had never been so happy. Her relationship with Joseph was on its way to be repaired, it was clear to her that he had changed for the better. One thing was still the same; he would hold and kiss her before she fell asleep each and every night. Joseph also had gotten rid of his cats and took up a new hobby; Basketball. Life seemed to be flowing well; he had a great job working with special needs children instead of being a drug counselor. Still Lilly felt a void in her life, an answered question of a man who walked out when she was just six years old.
Looking up her partner Scotty Valens was holding a piece of paper. To her, Scotty was her best friend someone who she could trust and understand. Sure they had their rough times but all and all he was always there for her.
“Boss wants us to take a look at a case” He said
Lilly stood up ready to work as she followed him downstairs. Once inside the Elevator things grew silent as a million thoughts zoomed through her head at an amazing speed; one memory however wasn’t there: The night her Dad walked out for good. Why couldn’t she picture his face, was it because he didn’t stay long to love her nor did Lilly choose not to remember him? The Elevator doors opened as the two of them walked down a set of stairs surrounded by billions of unsolved boxes of homicides.
Scotty took down a box and began to read but Lilly wasn’t listening, her mind was somewhere else. Suddenly her head bolted her upon hearing one of the men last to see with the victim: Jason Rush. As Vera came downstairs, she took the paper and headed back upstairs without a word to them. Scotty knew she was full of dark, hidden secrets, he knew as soon as Lilly heard her last name there was a correlation from the past, her past.
Coming back upstairs, Stillman motioned for her to come inside his office. They now were on good terms again, he loved her like his own daughter and knew deep down he couldn’t hold a grudge forever. Scotty soon followed and closed the door, keeping his eye on his blonde partner.
“Vera and Jefferies will talk to the victim’s wife “He said
Lilly gulped but remained calm as Stillman mentioned the man again. Her heart beat rapid inside of her chest as tears started to well up in her eyes. No, couldn’t let anyone see her like this, not now not ever. She quickly became cool, calm and collected before anyone took notice, her hands firmly planted on her lap and feet planted on the ground. It was actually a good thing for once that Stillman had told the two of them to go tomorrow. Lilly slowly got up and put on her jacket and headed outside.
It only took about ten minutes to arrive home; Joseph was working until 8pm it gave her time to read up on the case. She then pulled out and old cigar box and studied the picture, did he really love her or was it faked? The younger version of Lilly seemed so happy and carefree but what made her become this way? Tears fell from her eyes as she placed the picture back into the box and closed it, she needed answers now. Time passed before she headed upstairs and changed into her pajamas. Joseph arrived home shortly, placing a kiss on her pale cheek. As he sat on the bed, tears started to flow out of Lilly’s eyes.
“What’s wrong” he asked
Lilly wiped the tears from her eyes as her head fell onto a pillow. Her back as turned as Joseph began to rub her back; little did he know she was still crying. He knew she was hurting from someone from her past.
